Couple Up: Commit to Communication

He said. She said. But did anyone listen? (Oh, you see what I did right there) Communication is central to relationship success, and communication is a two way street: sharing and receiving, talking and listening.

Communication is the foundation for connection. Communication is the key for meaningful bond. Healthy communication is about listening just as much as it is about talking. If you want to couple up in a healthy vibrant way, I encourage you to consider some of the tips below:

  1. Be Interested & Ask Questions: Asking questions keeps the focus and attention on what the other person thinks, feels, experiences and believes. Asking questions will improve your knowledge of one another and asking questions suspends judgement while we discover more.
  2. Be Attentive with Eye Contact: Engaging a posture of physical attentiveness will draw you and your partner together. You will express a deeper value for one another...and you will actually pay more attention.
  3. Share Your Feelings: Yes, we all have feelings and we need to risk sharing them with our mate. Increase your self-awareness so that you can offer who you are to the one who wants to love you.
  4. Care For Their Feelings: It's simple. Care. Truly care and value your significant other. Be kind and gentle with who they are. Bless and encourage their life. Care for them because they are a gift!
